Ingredients
Base
115 g butter
50 g sugar
1 egg, beaten
30 g cocoa powder
200 g digestive biscuit crumbs
100 g desiccated coconut
60 g chopped nuts (optional)
Filling
115 g butter, softened
30 g custard powder
2 tbsp milk
250 g icing sugar
Topping
120 g dark chocolate
30 g butter
Steps
Melt the butter, sugar, and cocoa together gently in a saucepan.
Stir in the beaten egg and cook briefly until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and mix in biscuit crumbs, coconut, and nuts if using.
Press the mixture firmly into a lined tin and chill until set.
Beat the butter, custard powder, milk, and icing sugar until smooth.
Spread evenly over the base and chill again until firm.
Melt the chocolate and butter together and pour over the filling.
Chill until set, then cut into squares.
Serve chilled or at cool room temperature, sliced into small squares. Commonly served at gatherings, coffee breaks, or as part of a dessert spread.
